I am Rebecca Bauers, Interim Director for People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People at CQC. As well as working in regulation for 19 years, I have extensive experience of working with people with a learning disability and autistic people.
As Director, I am committed to tackling inequalities and improving the health and social care of autistic people and people with a learning disability. This includes continuing to work closely with people with lived experience to understand and help break down the barriers they face.
I am committed to building on the foundations of our work so far to improve the care for autistic people and people with a learning disability. Over the next 2 years, we will be focusing on three priority areas including:
- Health — keeping people well
- Community — enabling people to get the best care where they live
- Reducing restrictive practice — ensuring everyone in health and social care is working to reduce restrictive practice in their services.
