Allan Spigelman is a senior clinician and researcher who trained and worked in Australia and then England, where he was Senior Lecturer (Surgery) at St Mary’s Hospital, London with a private practice across London. He returned to Australia to take up a Chair in Surgery. As well as extensive experience across the public and private sectors in both countries, he has held senior management roles in health care and medical regulatory authorities. He currently is a Board member of South East Sydney Local Health District, a $2 billion organisation with over 13,000 staff. He has received awards for clinical innovation and research. He was the first Director of Clinical Governance in Australia and developed multiple policies since adopted nationwide.
