Tom Surrey is the Director of Adult Social Care Workforce & Policy in the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). During the pandemic response he initially led on testing policy for Adult Social Care before moving to his current role. Current work includes overseeing the development of Adult Social Care policy on Workforce and other issues including safeguarding and co-ordination of the department’s work on Dementia, and the interface of Health and Social Care. Tom has worked in the DHSC since March 2020 and in the civil service for 19 years. Previous roles have included corporate and policy roles in DLUHC, The Economic and Domestic Secretariat in the Cabinet Office and at Detra.
