Sue Sheath is Director of Regulation and Quality Improvement for Barchester Healthcare, a position she has held for almost 11 years. Prior to joining Barchester, Sue worked for the Care Quality Commission, where she was Head of Regional Compliance for the South East and led a team of 100 inspectors with responsibility for 5,000 services. Sue has also worked in the retail sector for some of the biggest names in their field, including Vodafone Retail but she started out working for British Airways, where her love of travel developed.
Sue also heads up an informal network of 70 quality leaders in adult social care. The network meets to share best practice and drive improvement in the sector and the group has contributed to recent published reviews of the CQC. In 2024, Sue recorded a podcast about Barchester Healthcare’s experience of the CQC Single Assessment Framework and she has delivered sessions at a number of events in relation to regulation, quality improvement and governance. This is Sue’s first time chairing a social care panel discussion and she is looking forward to debating key regulatory issues with colleagues in the sector at this event.
In her spare time, Sue loves to travel, she enjoys walking, as well as going to the gym.
