Karen is Professor of Nursing at the University of Leeds. She is Academic Director for Nurturing Innovation in Care Home Excellence in Leeds (or NICHE-Leeds), a partnership between care (Westward Care, Springfield Healthcare and HC-One, with Leeds Care Association and Leeds City Council) and science (University of Leeds, with Leeds Beckett University and Maastricht University). She is Executive Lead for the NIHR School for Social Care Research at Leeds and co-leads a social care workforce research partnership. Her research portfolio ensures interdisciplinary collaborations to help health and care innovate effectively, efficiently and sustainably to enhance quality. Her contribution is recognised through prestigious National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator status.
