Charles was 18 years old when the Geoghegan family care business started, living “above the shop” for 5 yrs. and has been fully immersed in the care business. He joined the family business full time in 2020 playing a leading role in managing and directing the company for the past 22 years.
Charles began his career in the family business with first studying to be a hotelier and holds an BA Honours Degree in Hotel Management. Following successful completion of his degree, Charles worked first in several 4- and 5-star hotels as Assistant Manager; most notably the family run Petersham Hotel in Richmond.Charles later joined Sanctuary Care, a newly formed corporate care provider and helped commission and open their first facility, now one of the largest in the country, this was later followed by two years at ANS a large corporate operator with 50 homes that was later sold to BUPA.
On joining the Geoghegan family business Charles managed both the elderly care facilities they operated and then developed the unique concept of a short stay post-operative rehabilitation care centre. Charles led and directed this from conception to the opening of the Clavadel Centre over 8 years ago. Clavadel Care is based around a MSK post-operative pathway with specialist rehabilitation set in a hotel environment. The Clavadel has grown from strength to strength and is often over 90% occupied. Patients book 6-8 weeks in advance of their surgery and The Clavadel has become a well-known brand across Surrey and London
