Dr Caroline Green is the Director of Research and Head of Public Engagement at the University of Oxford’s Institute for Ethics in AI, and leads its flagship Accelerator Fellowship Programme. A Senior Research Fellow in Social Sciences at Jesus College, her work spans AI governance, human rights, and gerontology, with a growing focus on the future of adult social care.
One of the UK’s leading voices on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in care, Dr Green collaborates widely with people who draw on care and support, family carers, professional care workers, care providers, technologists, policy makers and academics. She regularly speaks at and organises conferences and recently led the UK’s first cross-sector AI in Social Care Summit, convening over 150 participants – including people with lived experience, care workers, academics, civil servants and industry experts – to shape guidance for ethical, inclusive AI in care. She also leads the Oxford Project on the Responsible Use of AI in Adult Social Care, co-producing new tools and frameworks with the sector to ensure AI enhances – rather than undermines – the fundamental values of care. Her vision is clear: a future where technology supports caregiving, but the human remains at the centre.
