Dr Cathy Cale has been group medical director at Spire Healthcare for almost five years. This follows a 30-year career in the NHS, which spanned clinical, research and leadership roles.
Cathy trained in paediatric immunology and immunopathology. She has extensive experience as a medical director, with roles at three NHS trusts, including Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
In 2017, she became a clinical ambassador for Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT), a national programme designed to improve medical care by tackling variations in the way services are delivered across the NHS, and by sharing best practice
between trusts. At this time, she was also deputy medical director for NHS Improvement London region, combining this with ongoing clinical work.
